1.4.3 - Rotate Objects

You can rotate one or more objects around a specified base point and direction from the originals.
To determine the angle of rotation, you can use an angle value, or drag the object using the cursor, or specify a reference angle to align to an absolute angle.

Begin the rotate command via Toolbar icon.
To rotate the object (ABCDA), as shown in Fig. 1.4.3.2, around the point P1 :

  • On Ribbon acad ribbon ► Click Home tab►Modify panel ►click Rotateacad icon rotate 34 icon (Fig. 1.4.3.1).

CommandLine prompt says:

  1. Select object: Using the mouse Select the object (ABCDA), and press ENTER.
  2. Select base point: Using the mouse Select the base point P1.
  3. Specify rotation angle or [Copy/Reference] :

You have the following choices :

  1. Type the value of the rotation angle, for example 30, and press ENTER. Your drawing will rotate 30°, with center the base point P1, or
  2. Type r (Reference) and press ENTER:Specify reference angle <> : You can type the value for the reference angle, or using the mouse ,select two points on your screen to specify it, or
  3. Specify the new angle or : Type a value for the new angle or select a point on the screen to specify the new angle.

The object will be rotated to the new angle from point P1 to point P2 ,as shown in Fig.1.4.3.2.

- Rotate an object, using the Reference.

You have to rotate the drawing (KLMNK) around the point A, and with an angle which is defined with the lines P1P2 and P1P3 (It is the angle P2P1P3), but you don't know its value.

ON Home tab►Modify panel ►click Rotateacad icon rotate 34 icon .

CommandLine prompt says:

  1. Select object: Using the mouse Select the drawing (KLMNK), and press ENTER.
  2. Select base point: Using the mouse Select the base point A.
  3. Specify rotation angle or [Copy/Reference] :
  4. Type r (Reference) and press ENTER:Specify reference angle <> : using the mouse ,select the point P1 .
  5. Specify second point: Select point P2.
  6. Specify the new angle or[Points]<>: Select the point P3.

The object will be rotated to the new angle ,as shown in Fig.1.4.3.3.
