2.1.3 - Text Style

Any text in a drawing has a text style associated with this. When you enter text, the program uses the current text style, if you have not created your own text style, AutoCAD has as default the Standard text style.

The current text style sets the font, size, obliquing angle, orientation, default height, and other text characteristics. You can create your own text style, where you set text characteristics you want, and make it current.

Now you'll create a text style called Custom-Standard, which you'll use to add notes to the drawings of your project house99 on which you've been working:

To do this:

  • Click Home tab ►on Annotation panel click the arrow icon acad icon textStyle 30 the Text Style Dialog box will open (Fig.1.2.0.0).

  • Click the New button to the right in the dialog boxto open the New Text Style dialog box (Fig.1.2.0.0).
  • In the New Text Style dialog box, enter custom-standard for the name of your text style, and then click OK.
  • In the Text Style dialog box, you will notice in the style's list the new style 'custom-standard' that is the current style (it is shaded grey).
  • Click the Font Name drop-down list locate the Courier New font type, and select it.
  • In the Size group, select the Annotative option. It specify that the text is annotative.
  • In the Paper Text Height box, enter 0.15 (Fig.1.2.0.0).
  • To set this text style as current click on the Set Current tab (at top-right corner of the Text Style dialog box)
  • Click Close.
